Annual Golf Day Proves Big Hit

31 May 2012

The Douglas Macmillan Hospice's Annual Golf Day proved a sterling success, with almost £23,000 raised for patient care.

It attracted 188 golfers to the Trentham Golf Club, with a record 47 four ball teams competing.

The winning team was the Fore Swingers, whose captain was Chris Barry, with 89 points.

In second place was Soccer Lions lead by Carl Robinson, with 87 points. Third place was taken by Gary Dickson's Venture Business Forms, also with 87 points.

Event Organiser Peter Keller said,

"I would like to thank all the companies and individuals who entered teams, donated prizes for the Raffle and to the winning teams.

"The day proved the biggest charity golf event Trentham Golf Club has ever hosted, and everybody seemed to enjoy playing a wonderful course and having some lovely food too.

"I do thank the main sponsors, Altecnic Ltd and Lloyds TSB for their most generous sponsorship, which met the core costs of the day, so all the money spent on the day  went towards patient care at the Hospice."

The Douglas Macmillan Hospice celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2013, with the Annual Golf Day returning on Thursday May 16th at Trentham Golf Club.
