'The Most I've Ever Won Is A Bottle of Wine'
01 June 2012
These were the words of Kidsgrove resident Ade Borrill, shortly before he was presented with the racing bike he had won at the Dougie Mac Bike Ride.
He had entered the raffle for the prize, and thought nothing of it as he set off on the 50 mile Nantwich route; and was elated about the news of his win.
“You never expect to win anything like this; you kind of get your ticket and forget it, so I was delighted to win. I did the Nantwich route in around three hours, and will definitely be signing next year," Ade said.
The bike was donated by Vekta Velosport, which are based on the Railway Enterprise Centre just off Shelton New Road. Matt Roberts who did the handover of the bike at their store, was delighted to donate the bike, having taken part in numerous rides for the Hospice over the last decade.
“We were happy to donate the bike to such a great cause as Douglas Macmillan Hospice. I have done bike rides for the Hospice for the last 10 years, and appreciate the work they do," Matt said.
