Education & Youth Groups

The Dougie Mac is proud to receive support from many youth groups, nurseries, schools, colleges and universities from across North Staffordshire. The amazing support we receive from these individuals and groups contributes directly to the care provided to local adults and ensures no one is charged for the support they receive from the Hospice.

Fundraising for the Dougie Mac can be extremely beneficial for young people and we routinely work alongside organisations to maximise opportunities for personal growth. Fundraising has been shown to boost social skills, build confidence and develop transferrable skills such as leadership, relationship building and teamwork. It also enables young people to make a valuable contribution to their community.

Remember when you pledge your support to the Dougie Mac you are not alone.  Our Fundraising team are there to support and help guide you throughout your fundraising efforts. All individuals, groups, schools, colleges and universities who pledge to support the Hospice will be offered FREE educational resources. These resources can be used within a learning curriculum tailored to suit the needs of the individual or group who are taking part in fundraising for the Hospice.

We have a number of ways of how young people can raise money to support the Dougie Mac and these can be tailored to your needs. You could raise sponsorship from taking part in one of our official events, take part in a Bag It Bring It event or you could even get creative and organise your own event.

Bring a Pound Day

We run hospice led fundraising events throughout the year and by far our largest event we hold is our annual Bring a Pound Day that takes place each year at the start of October. Supported by Signal  Radio, Bring a Pound Day is North Staffordshires largest fundraising day where the local community join together to make their pound count by bringing a £1 to work or school whilst taking part in fun activities throughout the day. In 2015, over 40 Schools took part in the Bring a Pound Day fun raising a combined figure of over £12,000!

In 2016 Bring a Pound Day is back on Friday 7th October, if you would like to know more about Bring a Pound Day or to receive further information about how you can fundraise please call the fundraising team on 01782 344304 or contact our Youth & Education Fundraiser by sending an email to jonathonmathers@dmhospice.org.uk
