In 2007 we held our first ever ladies only Midnight to Sunrise
Walk. The circular route beginning from Trentham took our ladies
through Longton, Fenton, Heron Cross and Blurton returning to
see the sunrise at Trentham.
1601 women walked the route. They began with a work-out with a
group of Fitness First Instructors and then as the clock struck
Midnight they walked into the night on the 10.5 mile route in
their Dougie Mac branded yellow T shirts. The fastest ladies completed
in 3.5 hours and the not so fast by 5.30am. Women from 9 years
to 83 took part and the camaraderie was second to none. The route,
toilets stops and water stations were marshalled by 130 volunteers
who supported the ladies as the walked through the night.
On the ladies return to base they were greeted with a fleece blanket
and a pastry breakfast donated by Delice De France.
The event produced extremely positive feedback and an astonishing
£140,000 and that’s why we are doing it again in 2008.
