It costs Douglas Macmillan Hospice more than £6 million each year to provide a complete range of specialist palliative care* services in the hospice, in the community and in patients’ homes. (Based on income figures for the financial year 05/06)

The Hospice receives money from the following five key sources:

Statutory funding
Douglas Macmillan Hospice applies for funding from local primary care trusts (formerly the Health Authority). This accounts for one third of the Hospice’s income. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED.

Fundraising
The fundraising team organise events, from street collections through to a charity ball, throughout the year to raise funds for the hospice. The team also supports individuals and organisations who want to hold their own events to raise funds for the Hospice and works closely with many volunteers who tirelessly fundraise in a variety of ways.

Lottery
Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s weekly Lottery is ten-years-old and well supported by more than 17,000 individuals and companies in North Staffordshire. Its weekly prize fund is £4,500, there are 279 prizes, 5 top prizes and 1st prize is £2,500.

There are 11 Douglas Macmillan Hospice shops across North Staffordshire and the surrounding areas. The locations include:
