Sponsorship

When entering a Hospice Led event you will be issued with a fundraising pack that will include personalised sponsorship forms. Below are some tips on maximising your sponsorship.

Tips on Fundraising

Sponsorship Forms

Remember that your sponsors are likely to follow the lead of the first few people to sign your form, so always start with those you think will sponsor you for larger rather than smaller amounts.

Getting people to sign the form is relatively easy. Collecting the money after the event is often more difficult. Let your sponsors know that you wish to collect the money by a certain date - say two or three weeks after the event. Better still; see if any sponsors will pay when they sign!

Just Giving - Free Online Fundraising Page!

Have fun creating your own Fundraising page online. It’s simple and fun!

Douglas Macmillan Hospice has teamed up with justgiving.com so all our supporters & events participants can raise money quickly and easily online with their own personalised web pages.

Friends and family will be able to donate online with a credit or debit card. To set up your page today visit the website below or call 0800 028 6183 for more details.

For supporters wanting to make a donation directly to DMH, you will be able to direct them to this web address: www.justgiving.com/douglasmacmillan/donate.

Gift Aid It!

Individual personal donations you receive may be eligible for Gift Aid. If your sponsors are UK Taxpayers we can claim an additional 28p in every pound donated from the Inland Revenue. It does mean a little bit of extra work for you, but can significantly increase the money you raise for us. To qualify, donors need to complete the sponsor form giving the first line of their home address and postcode.

Match Funding

Many employers will match money raised by staff on a pound-for-pound basis, so do ask yours if they are prepared to do this. The money you raise could be doubled with very little effort!

Publicity

As an aid to your fundraising and so that people are aware of what you’re doing and why, do try and get as much publicity as possible. Try getting an article in your staff newspaper if there is one, or put something up on the notice boards. Get in touch with your local paper and local radio - if you have a particularly wacky story to tell, let us know and we’ll try to help get you publicity.
