Day Hospice

The Day Hospice is located in a purpose designed unit built in the late 1990’s. There are up to 25 patient places operating 5 days a week.

Patients attend for the whole or a part of the day or to a specific clinical session according to diagnosed and assessed needs & circumstances. Patients have regular assessments of their needs and benefit from a range of occupational & diversional therapies which are provided during the day. Patients are often able to be discharged after a period of 6 months following review by the Multi Disciplinary Team.

Additionally, the Day Hospice provides Out Patient Clinics for community patients. These include lymphoedema, psychology, aromatherapy, body image and others. Many of these services are provided as an outreach service to house bound patients. Some sessions are reserved for non cancer patient groups.

Total attendances at the Day Hospice and outpatients are expected to rise by about 10% during the year 2010/11 to a total of 4,500 for the year.
