Education

One of the most important aspects of the services provided by the hospice is the training and education of all staff working in palliative and end of life care in the local health economy.

The hospice Education Department provides a full range of accredited courses and qualifications in palliative and end of life care in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton. These include Certificate (HE) Palliative and End of Life Care, Diploma (HE) Palliative and End of Life Care and BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care Practice. All lectures are taught in our purpose built Education Centre. Students are assigned a personal tutor and have full access to library and IT facilities.

Funding Support Available

Help the Hospices Professional Development Grants are currently open to associate members of Help the Hospices including nurses, doctors and healthcare assistants employed by a care home who apply to study for accredited palliative care courses.

With funding secured from the Strategic Health Authority we have 50% discount available for staff working within the NHS studying for the Certificate (HE) Palliative and End of Life Care. This means you can study for an accredited University Award for less than £450.00.

Study Programme

In addition study days are designed to provide for the needs of individuals and organisations. The majority of students are staff working in the NHS, social care and private sectors.We also invite requests for custom designed training that can be tailored to the requirements of your organisation to meet the development needs of your staff. Ideally situated close to the city centre and with easy access to the M6 and A50, the Education Cente provides an ideal location for the external hire of our facilities. Our lecture theatres are spacious and air-conditioned with a range of high-quality audio visual tools. In addition our on-site hospitality team offer a range of catering options and menus to suit all tastes and budgets.
