Giving In Memory

Here at the hospice we often come into contact with families and friends who despite their heartache want to do something to help the hospice in memory of their loved one.  Many people draw comfort from making a positive contribution to the hospice in honour and celebration of the life they have lost.

There a number of ways to support the hospice and celebrate the life and memory of a loved one:

Donations in lieu of funeral flowers

Flowers fade but a donation to the hospice can make a lasting difference to future patients and their families.  By giving in memory of your loved one your friends and families are helping to maintain the hospice’s vital services.

The hospice can provide collection envelopes which can be personalised to the deceased and enable supporters to ‘Gift Aid’ their donation which can increase its value by nearly a third. To request envelopes please speak to, or email the Fundraising Team or your Funeral Director.

Light Up a Life

Support our annual Christmas Campaign by sponsoring a light on the hospice Christmas tree in memory of a loved one.  A light will shine for them on the hospice Christmas Tree throughout the festive season and their name will be entered into the Book of Memories which is displayed in the hospice chapel all year round.  For more information about Light Up a Life click here.

One off donation
If you would like to make a One Off Donation in memory of someone you would like to remember, you can do so by sending a covering letter and posting with your cheque to the Hospice. Alternatively, click here to make the payment online.

Make a regular donation

By making a regular donation to the hospice you will enable us to plan more effectively for the future by providing a regular guaranteed income.  It is up to you how much and how often you would like to give.  Please contact the fundraising team by phone 01782 344304 or email or click here.

Take part in an Event
Many supporters find taking part in an event in memory of their loved helps with the healing process and gives them something to focus on.  The hospice organises a number of events throughout the year.  There is sure to be an event that is right for you.  To read more about the events click here

Time to Remember

The Dougie Mac is inviting supporters to choose a ‘Time to Remember’ a loved one in celebration of their life.  This may be a special day such as a birthday or anniversary or perhaps a sad day such as the day your loved one died.  By taking ‘Time to Remember’ you can support the hospice and remember a loved one at the same time.

Once you have chosen your date we ask that you make a donation of your choice to the hospice in memory of your loved one.  When we have received your donation the hospice will create a personalised page on this site for the person you wish to remember on which you can post photographs, record memories and invite others to reminisce and share good times.

When we have created you unique page we will send you the details in a keepsake card which will enable you to edit your loved ones page.  You can also send the link out to friends and family to invite them to support the hospice and contribute to your tribute.

The hospice will also be creating a small garden of remembrance within the grounds where we will sow forget me nots to symbolise the special lives that we have lost and wish to remember.  Supporters of the campaign can come and enjoy quiet time in this area of the garden whenever they wish.

If you would like to take ‘Time to Remember’ please contact Fundraising on 01782 344304.

Volunteering

Can you give the hospice the gift of time?  The hospice relies on its volunteers who generously give their time.  A little help goes a long way and there are a variety of ways that volunteers help in and around the hospice.  For more info about volunteering at the hospice click here.

Gift Aid - Increasing your gift at no extra cost to you

By making a Gift Aid declaration and supplying their name and address, each supporter can increase the value of their gift at no extra cost to themselves. For every £1 donated giftaid enables the Hospice to claim an additional 25p from the H M R C.
