Dear everyone
I have been meaning to write for sometime but have not been able to really express my appreciation and gratitude for all you did not only for mum but for the whole family.
It seems in some ways a long time ago since mum was so ill and was with you all at the Dougie Mac. I think of you all with such warmth as I drive from Nottingham through Meir to visit my father in Stoke.
I hope you are all aware how much mum and we all thought of you and appreciate you all. It gave her great comfort and relief to be in a safe caring environment in her final months being with you to have such support care and human kindness was a great relief to her as it was to all of us.
Knowing she was so well looked after was reassuring and your compassion helped ease our anxiety and practical worries.
It was a difficult time for everyone and we all appreciate how sincere you all were and also your understanding and consideration to both dad and my children’s needs.
Although a very sad time the Dougie Mac was a haven of warmth and shelter – one of the most caring, calm and supportive places to be. I shall appreciate forever, as will everyone in the family, all the consideration thoughtfulness and genuine individual acts which every one of you carried out in your own ways.
The Dougie Mac is a true example of what genuine nursing care is, as you did help so much at a difficult time and this was a comfort to all of us that we shall never forget.
