A fundraising group of ‘Pink Ladies’ are ready to take on the Dougie Mac MINI Moonlight Walk for the first time, on Saturday 9th July, to thank them for caring for two loved ones.
Joanne Cooke from Harrisehead has teamed up with her daughter Charlotte and best friend Stephanie Ellis for the eight mile ladies only walk.
The ‘Pink Ladies’ are walking in memory of Joanne’s mother Rose and her brother Paul Bamford, who both received care from Dougie Mac nurses.
Joanne Cooke commented,
“My mum had the Hospice at Home service as she wanted to be cared for at home in her final days.
“The nurses we’re there round the clock for her last three days and helped us to remember the good times we had all spent together.
“My brother had care at the Hospice just over 12 months ago, and in both cases we felt as a family as if we meant something to the staff and weren’t just another family and patient.”
Suzi Smith, Corporate Fundraising & Events Head added,
“We would like to thank Joanne, Charlotte and Stephanie for supporting the Dougie Mac MINI Moonlight Walk, and hope they enjoy their first time doing the walk.
“All monies raised from the Moonlight Walk will support local families and patients facing a life limiting illness.”
Ladies can register online for the Dougie Mac MINI Moonlight Walk at fundraising.dmhospice.org.uk at £10 per entrant, with supporters raising over £150 in sponsorship receiving free entry into the 2017 event.
