A Stone lady will honour the memory of her late father as she leads a team of ladies to take part in Dougie Mac’s Moonlight Walk.
Tina Stanton, 37, from Stone, will be joined by Laura Hopper and Tracey Hall, all walking in memory of Bill Stanton who passed away in February.
Bill was diagnosed last September with pancreatic cancer, and received care from Dougie Mac’s Hospice at Home service as well as on-site at the Blurton hospice.
Tina and her sister moved camp beds into Bill’s room at the Hospice, with their mum also in the room adjacent so they could all be with him while he was receiving care.
Tina Stanton commented,
“The staff we’re absolutely fantastic and gave us the support to keep Dad at home for as long as we could.
“The care he received gave him as much dignity as they could and you could not fault the staff or his care; nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
“The girls are really looking forward to the walk and we’re hoping to raise £150 in sponsorship.”
Tina’s brother Keith Stanton from Stanton’s of Stoke will also be volunteering on the night, with support vehicles and the well known ‘big red bus’.
