Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s shop in Commerce Street Longton, has been broken into over the weekend.
The robbery, which is believed to have taken place on Sunday evening saw burglars break in and steal a collecting box and donated goods.
Staff and volunteers from the shop have been left shocked and shaken by the robbery, after coming to open the shop on Monday morning.
Karen McKenzie, Income Generation Director commented,
“We rely very heavily on our shops right across Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire to help fund our vital care services for patients and families living with a life limiting condition.
“Our shops are stocked by donations from our local community, it’s so sad that we will not be able to raise money for the hospice by selling these items as supporters intended.
“The local community of Longton have always been really supportive, and we hope this doesn’t deter people from donating items in any of our shops.
“Without the kindness and generosity of people across North Staffordshire we couldn’t do what we do, caring for 3000 people each year.”
