Dougie Mac are extremely grateful to accept a generous cheque for £300.00 in recognition of the “noble work of the hospice” from Mirpur Welfare Fund, who are themselves a small local charity.
Since 1996, the Shelton based charity has had the aim of working towards integration, cohesion and interaction among the community through its members and supporters being involved in a range of social, welfare and support activities.
The Fund and the hospice hope that their relationship will support the work of both organisations and engage the wider Muslim community in our area, helping the community understand what palliative care is, how Dougie Mac cares for people with life-limiting conditions and those important to them – particularly at end of life – and how the hospice can be supported through both volunteering and fundraising.
Amir Baz Khan, Chairman of Mirpur Welfare Fund, says:
“The Mirpur Welfare Fund is working with a view that British Muslims should get together to fundraise, donating the collected money to organisations such as Dougie Mac to extend their helping hand within the community.
We hope that more concentrated effort will produce good results enabling us to contribute more funds towards the noble work carried out by Dougie Mac.”
Louise Eagle, Head of Volunteer Resources, has been working closely with Mirpur Welfare Fund and said:
“We’re delighted to be engaging with the Muslim community in our local area and will support them in whatever way we can. We look forward to working together in the future in what promises to be a fruitful collaboration.”
