In honour of Staffordshire Day, Enjoy Staffordshire planned the biggest ever celebration of the oatcake this morning, and Dougie Mac were only too happy to get in on the action!
Alongside other organisations and charities, we at Dougie Mac did our bit for the World’s Biggest Oatcake Morning by hosting an event of our own from our dining room. Dozens upon dozens of oatcakes were served up with a choice of toppings, not only to celebrate the tasty Staffordshire culinary staple and our heritage, but also to raise funds for the hospice.
Mark Winnington, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth at Staffordshire County Council and Vice Chair of Enjoy Staffordshire said: “There is no better way to celebrate Staffordshire Day than by tucking into a great local delicacy like an oatcake.
“We thought we could embrace the love of the oatcake this year and help some amazing Staffordshire charities at the same time.”
Suzi Smith, Head of Corporate Fundraising and Events at Dougie Mac, said: “We’ve really loved being a part of Staffordshire’s first World Biggest Oatcake Morning. This year, Dougie Mac celebrates 45 years of providing priceless care, free of charge to patients and families across North Staffordshire.
“As well as holding our own event at the main hospice in Blurton, we have encouraged our supporting companies to use the Oatcake Morning as an opportunity to fundraise for the hospice.”
