Dougie Mac is teaming up with Signal Radio again this month to raise invaluable funds for the hospice by asking the local community to support the Bring a Pound Campaign.
Since the campaign began in 2011, over £400,000 has been raised by the local community which has gone towards providing priceless care, free of charge to both patients and their loved ones, at the Blurton based hospice and in the local community.
Supporters are encouraged to have fun fundraising this September by taking part in their own organised events and to join in the celebrations by tuning into Signal Radio on Friday 21st September where Foxy and Emma from the Breakfast Show will be broadcasting all day from the hospice in an ‘All-Day Breakfast Takeover.’
There are plenty of ways to support Bring a Pound; so far local companies have pledged their support to the campaign by hosting bake-sales, coffee mornings, dress down / up days, raffles and even fun days.
Trentham Lakes-based travel company, Blue Bay Travel have supported Dougie Mac for many years in all manner of ways, such as taking part in hospice-led events like Glow in the Moonlight amongst other sporting activities, volunteering time in Dougie Mac’s 20 shops, and of course fundraising for the annual Bring a Pound campaign where last year, the team took to the streets with collection buckets in fancy dress to help raise money for the hospice.
When one of Blue Bay Travel’s personal travel advisors discovered she was seriously ill, it was a tough time for the tight-knit team, but Managing Director, Maxine Rowland, recalls that Dougie Mac relieved a lot of that pressure and since then, it’s been the organisation’s mission to raise as much money as possible to help their local hospice.
“Dougie Mac means so much to everyone here at Blue Bay Travel. We have some keen bakers here so we’ve decided to hold a coffee morning and invite all our neighbours to join us for a slice (or two) of cake. Our employees are also going to be sporting yellow clothes to really brighten up the office in honour of Dougie Mac. Come and see for yourself on Friday 21st September and help raise some cash for an incredible charity!”
Blue Bay Travel will be joining a host of other local companies such as Rymans in Crewe who will be continuing their lengthy streak of supporting the campaign with a bake sale, and Ritchie Catering Equipment who will be hosting a 3-day culinary event including cocktail demonstrations, a warehouse clearance, raffles and more.
Suzi Archer, Head of Corporate Fundraising & Events said;
“We at Dougie Mac are excited to launch our 2018 Bring a Pound Campaign with Signal Radio. We already have some great fundraising activities in the pipeline, but the campaign is so unique because it encourages individuals, schools and businesses across North Staffordshire to come together and make every pound count for Dougie Mac.
A huge thank you to Blue Bay Travel and every organisation that has pledged their support to this campaign; we rely on the generosity of local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to help raise those all-important funds so that Dougie Mac can continue to provide exceptional care to over 3,000 patients with life limiting illnesses, at the hospice and in the community each year.”
Anybody who wishes to take part this year should go to www.dmhospice.org.uk to register or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Each fundraiser will receive an event pack with posters, balloons and plenty of ideas to assist them with their fundraising.
