Brand New Dougie Mac Event ‘Winter Walks’

Dougie Mac Hospice is delighted to introduce a brand new family-friendly community fundraising event to its calendar this year, Winter Walks.

Held on Sunday 2nd December from 10am, Winter Walks will see the local community come together to support the hospice by taking on a 5-mile walk, starting and finishing at bet365 stadium. Partakers are invited to don their most festive outfits and get friends, family and colleagues together to take part.

At the halfway point, walkers will reach Dougie Mac where they will be greeted with carols from the Dougie Mac Choir, hot drinks and refreshments. There will also be the opportunity to sign the giant Christmas card that will be presented to all patients and families that will be receiving care from the hospice over the holiday.

Upon the return to bet365 stadium, walkers will be welcomed with a variety of entertainment, snacks and a festive Christmas market with a variety of stalls to spend some time relaxing and Christmas shopping with family and friends.

This brand new fundraising venture aims to raise £20,000 to help fund the care provided over Christmas by the team of Dougie Mac nurses, staff and volunteers who work tirelessly over the festive period to make sure all patients and their families can spend Christmas together either in the comfort of their own home, or at the hospice creating lasting memories with loved ones.

Whilst the Winter Walk event is free to enter, all participants are encouraged to raise at least £25 in sponsorship and as a special ‘thank you’, all fundraisers will receive a Dougie Mac Festive Fundraiser or Seasonal Superstar headband.

Suzi Archer, Head of Corporate Fundraising & Events commented:

“We are so excited to host this brand new event in Dougie Mac’s fundraising calendar. We’re really looking forward to seeing local families come together to support our services, whilst enjoying such a fun and festive activity.
