Kindhearted Elizabeth Sromek decided to use her 18th birthday as an opportunity to support her local hospice.
Generous Elizabeth passed up on birthday gifts from friends and family and instead asked each of her party guests to donate an item to Dougie Mac.
Now, the hospice has received bags full of gifts, toys, toiletries and books that can be used for charity tombolas to raise all-important funds for the hospice.
“When I did work experience with Dougie Mac in their Day Therapy Unit, I realised what a wonderful place it was and it got me thinking of ways in which I could continue to support the hospice. After speaking with the Volunteer Resources Team for inspiration, I decided to use my birthday to promote awareness of Dougie Mac to my friends, and to collect donations.”
Sherry Shehata, Dougie Mac Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, said:
“It’s so great to see that the hospice has made such an impact on Elizabeth and we thank her, wholeheartedly, for her generous actions.
“All donations help Dougie Mac continue to provide excellent care to local families living with life-limiting illnesses.”
