Newlyweds Jason and Dinah Watts (pictured) decided to support Dougie Mac on their wedding day in place of requesting gifts.
The generous couple, of Weston Coyney, Stoke-on-Trent, placed collecting boxes at St Peter’s Church and at their reception venue in Caverswall in July and raised more than £700 for the hospice.
Dinah said: “We chose to support Dougie Mac because we are part of the Christian community and have many friends who have found help and support through the hospice. We are all grateful for the work they do.”
Dinah also purchased her wedding dress from Dougie Mac’s Occasions store in Commerce Street, Longton.
She said: “When I saw the dresses, I was amazed! I didn’t even know about the shop until a friend told me, but I am delighted that I managed to purchase a perfect dress and support Dougie Mac at the same time. I’m also grateful for the staff who were a brilliant help. I am now telling everyone to go there!”
Head of Fundraising and Lottery, Donna Adams, said: “We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Watts for thinking of the hospice on their special day.
“The gift so kindly given by the couple and their wedding guests will make a real difference, helping local families to access priceless care at a time when they need it most.
“We are also delighted that Dinah was able to find her perfect wedding dress in our Occasions shop and hope that many more brides-to-be will be inspired to call in and take a look at what we have on offer.
“Everyone at the hospice congratulates the couple and wishes them every happiness as they embark on married life together.”
