Dougie Mac is thrilled to be one of the thousands of organisations taking part in this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign on 3rd December.
The campaign began in 2012 as a way to give back after the well known shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year celebrities, household name brands and leading charities all got involved on the day, and #GivingTuesday was the top trending item on Twitter in the UK. In 2018, more than £7.8 million was raised in online donations alone on the day itself.
This year, with your help, Dougie Mac hopes to raise enough money on Giving Tuesday that could fund a syringe pump for our patients.
Syringe pumps are vital in helping to reduce patients’ pain and symptoms. They are small, portable electronic devices that deliver medication consistently over a 24 hour period, reducing the need for multiple injections and allowing the patient to continue with life safe in the knowledge that their pain is controlled and the medication is being delivered.
The hospice has 40 syringe pumps, some of which are nearing the end of their commercial life and need upgrading.
If you can help us to keep our patients pain free, please join us and donate what you can by visiting: www.dmhospice.org.uk/form
Giving Tuesday was brought to the UK from the United States in 2014 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), with the key aim of encouraging people to think of others in the run up to Christmas. There are numerous ways to get involved through donating to charity, volunteering or simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member.
