Quite a few of us might have taken the opportunity to do a little home hairdressing during the Covid-19 lockdown but how many of you braved the shave? Our super supporter Tracy Bourne did just that and has raised a fantastic amount so far. Here’s why Tracy chose to support:
“Choosing Dougie Mac Hospice as my charity was the easiest decision I had to make. The fact the hospice is based in Stoke-on-Trent and supports local people was important for me. The hospice also has great significance to our family. We recently lost a member of our family and Dougie Mac worked tirelessly to support us during our times of need. The care provided around the clock to assist and care for our loved one was fantastic. The staff ensured that their final days were as comfortable as possible.
“Having my head shaved is something I have wanted to do for many years so just before Christmas I made my decision and set a date, soon after the fundraising began.
“The head shave had to be rearranged due to the Coronavirus lockdown so instead of doing it at a local hairdressers, my husband grabbed the clippers & set to work! It was a team effort with my sister giving advice over the phone & our sons offering support on FaceTime. We also had great support from my neighbours (over the fence of course). There was a real sense of community & they all donated too. I’m happy to say that I have surpassed my goal of raising £1,500 with the current total approximately at £1,600 and rising.
“In the current climate I can’t gather all the donations, but as soon as the lockdown is lifted, I will be out again with my bucket.”
We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Tracy for choosing to support us, the donations will help us to continue being there for local people when they need us most.
