We continue to be overwhelmed with the support from our community who have been so generous with over 6000 bags of donations and their custom over the last 7 days since we reopened 5 of our stores. We thank you for supporting a successful week of trading and respectfully adhering to our safety guidelines.
Despite this positive news, our retail team have also had to deal with an overwhelming amount of donations left outside our stores during closing hours, many of which end up damaged and unable to be sold.
In response to this, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors to donations for the next week in order to uphold the safety of our staff who are working incredibly hard to make sure our stores remain safe and you can continue to shop.
It is with a very heavy heart that we have made this decision, but we are urging you to please act responsibly and work with us as we navigate these new constraints Covid-19 has forced up on us so we can start accepting donations again soon.
It’s important to make it clear that leaving donations outside our stores whilst closed is wholly unacceptable and are classed as fly-tipping. Fly-tipping can be a health hazard, attract pests and create dangerous environments for our staff, shoppers and the wider community who live and work near our stores.
Our Burslem, Hanford, Newcastle, Meir and Stoke stores remain open for shoppers Tuesday-Saturday 10.00am-4.00pm and we’d love our shoppers to continue to support us. We are unable to confirm when our other stores will be able to reopen as all our team are supporting each other at our five open stores to ensure everyone can shop, work and donate safely.
We thank our supporters for their understanding and patience as they continue to save their donations for us; donations are invaluable to us and help to ensure we can continue to provide care and support to local people.
